This movie, simply just shows us how to live life. I am so happy to live in a time where the forgotten can be not only remembered, but celebrated and heard once again. A metaphor for all of us... We have to share our gifts, keep getting up when knocked down, and remember we can live until we are dead... I cannot wait to see what these ladies do with the rest of their lives and their careers. I am so happy to hear that some of them will have their catalogues re-released and even a sound track from the movie is going to be available soon. Glad to see The Weinstein company helping so that this Documentary can also be celebrated for the Oscar it is going to win next winter. Lisa Fisher and Darlene Love along with Tata Vega and Merry Clayton all carry this movie and then the very current struggle of the DIVA Currently struggling out of the back of the pack, Judith HIll are amazing.

The Synopsis for 20 Feet from Stardom (2013) 720p
The backup singer exists in a strange place in the pop music world; they are always in the shadow of the feature artists even when they are in front of them in concert while they provide a vital foundation for the music. Through interviews with veterans and concert footage, the history of these predominately African-American singers is explored through the rock era. Furthermore, special focus is given to special stand outs who endeavored to make a living in the art burdened with a low profile and more personal career frustrations, especially those who faced the very different challenge of singing in the spotlight themselves.

The Oscar-winning documentary "20 Feet from Stardom" does a credible job in depicting the highs & lows of past & present background singers. And while non-music fans might think "20 Feet from Stardom" is more like "20 scenes of Boredom", it still authentically highlights the much underrated role of the background singer. There are many heavy-hitting recording artists that speak of their background singers; those artists include Mick Jagger, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler, Bruce Springsteen and others; not too shabby of a lineup. But the real voice of "20 Feet From Stardom" is when Writer-Director Morgan Neville interviews the background singers and they reveal their incredible elevator rides in their careers. OK, that was my high pitch for "20 Feet From Stardom". **** Good
This movie is not well researched. Straight to the point, Darlene Lovedid not sing the Da Doo Ron Ron nor did she sing background on it. Shedid not sing background for any Crystal song. Her credits are "He's ARebel" and "He's Sure The Boy I Love". That is it. La La Brooks is theone and only original singer of the DDRR. La La's management contactedMorgan Neville and informed him of this. Morgan Neville apologized toLa La Brooks. He feels Darlene pulled one on him and is further annoyedthat he had to pay for the rights to the DDRR. Phil Spector has statedtwice in 2012 and 2013 that Darlene had nothing to do with the DDRR. Atthe time of the DDRR being produced, Darlene Love was at home tendingto her first born son. The background singers to the DDRR are Cher,Fanita James and Gracia Nitzsche.
I forgot to mention that Darlene Love and The Blossoms take credit forsinging background on the Shoop, Shoop Song in this movie. This is nottrue. The hit song, SSS, was sung by Betty Everett and The Opals werethe background singers. The record was produced by VJ Records ofChicago. The Blossoms sang background on Merry Clayton's version of theSSS, and this record was a flop. The Blossoms sang background on ArethaFranklin's cover of the SSS on Shindig. No record was produced forthis.
Further the name of the group - is The Blossoms. It is not Darlene Loveand The Blossoms. The Blossoms were created by Fanita (Edwards) Jamesin 1954. Darlene didn't come along until the year 1958.
