The Reviews for Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) 1080p

Great whodunnit satireReviewed bymasonsaulVote: 8/10

Bodies Bodies Bodies mixes the traits of a whodunnit with some quality satire about the upper classes of society that hooks you in once the power cuts out and keeps you engaged right up until its final statement, that admittedly could've been a little more potent.

The whole cast is really good at making these characters unlikeable with antagonistic chemistry but still extremely entertaining to watch except Maria Bakalova who's innocent presence and shy body language make her the one to root for.

Halina Reijn's direction is excellent, despite the minimal lighting due to narrative events the film is always well lit and comprehensible and keeps the tension going once the bodies start dropping. The soundtrack is really good and fits the film's tone perfectly.

Bodies Bodies Bodies, is Boring Boring BoringReviewed bynscoby93Vote: 1/10

When I saw the trailers for this film I thought it would be trash and that's exactly what I was given. The only reason I watched this film was because of the positive ratings it's currently receiving on IMDb and Letterboxd, so I thought maybe I'm wrong and being an A24 fan I wanted to be. But dear God was this film so unbelievably boring, the worst A24 film I've ever seen.

This will be quick as I literally didn't like anything about this film, the characters are absolutely annoying. They are incredibly unlikeable and nothing about them is interesting. The "story" is boring bordering on nonexistent. I know it's satirical but it's boring, uninteresting, and terrible.

The only thing that wasn't straight trash were the performances which were passable at best. I will mention Maria Bakalova as Bee and Lee Pace as Greg in a positive light as they were the only likeable characters. In the end all this film did for me was fortify how annoying I find this generation to be.

If this film is supposed to be comedy it's not funny, if it's supposed to be horror it's not scary, if it's supposed to be a slasher the kills are boring, if it's supposed to be a thriller it's sure as hell not thrilling. The films conclusion is damn near a slap in the face, to suffer the one hour and 34 minute run time which felt like two hours and for it to all literally be for nothing was insulting. Perhaps that's the point to show how desperate and unpredictable people get during moments of crisis. All I could think after that reveal was "Good lord all of this for nothing" it was an absolute waste of time. The only good thing about that ending was how possible and true it could be to life.

This was a huge swing and a miss for A24 I don't understand how or why they would produce such trash. Oh well it's not for me simple as that, if the rest of you like it then I'm happy for you.

Ironically a condemnation of itselfReviewed byblakestachelVote: 5/10

Quite literally like spending the day with your significant other's insipid friends and trying to navigate the intricate and tangled web of group dynamics spun over time; an ordeal which ultimately isn't worth the effort of trying to assimilate. While the "twist" does make everything work a bit better, it still doesn't make it worth your time. Especially when it's the only possible resolution for a murder plot so confined by its setting and lack of characters. The film almost works as contemporary satire, one of a society so stimulated by buzzwords and armchair psychology that it no longer remembers what it's like to have organic or innate thoughts. It examines how constant exposure to contradicting layers of discourse only leads to further confusion and insecurity, which in turn forces individuals to cling even tighter to their own tangled logic. Manic dramatizations and over-complications of reality result in the inability to grasp even the simplest of truths. This is the film's thesis. Unfortunately, it would have carried more weight if it didn't feel as though it were contrived from the same virtual hive mind it so readily condemns.
