I was looking forward to a movie being made for the hit TV show CHIPSfor a long time, and fast forward to 2017...the wait is over, it'sfinally happened. It's here! CHIPS is a major motion picture! Oh, wait, major? How is anything coming from Dax anything major? This movie is ahollow, shallow, damn near UNWATCHABLE film to date. The best scenes ofthe movie are clearly in the trailer. The rest of the movie? Picture anentire train without any train tracks, and try to picture it trying tomove. Doesn't work, eh? Neither does anything in this movie. Thecasting was bad, there is absolutely no story ( I'm not kidding, thereis NOTHING to see here), and the film was incredibly boring. The hourand forty minute running time, it's going to feel like over 2 hours, trust me...this film was that boring. Unnecessary violence, unnecessarynudity, and unnecessary shootings...makes a very unnecessary movie tobe made. If you're going to do it, do it right, dammit! I like Dax, buthe was out of his league on this one...he's the same age as me, he wasborn in the 70's, he didn't live through it! If anyone is entitled tomake a film after a beloved show, it should be done by someone who willbe faithful to the adaption of the series, and who can argue with that?I actually got distracted after an hour of this atrocious waste oftime, and was more entertained with the cheerful baby sitting in theseat with her parent next to me...it reminded me of the "Baby Food"episode from the TV show CHIPS, and actually made me sad of how badwe've steered off the Hollywood track. I appreciate and love classicTV, it should be respected, and if crap like this keeps slippingthrough the ass cracks of Hollywood itself, I'm done going to the showaltogether. Thumbs down, Dax...next time, let's see if Kristen Bell isa little better with the writing and directing.

I was never a great fan of the 1970s show CHIPS. Most of my peers likedit a lot and I could see why because it was a fairly likable showfeaturing a couple of fairly likable characters played by a couplefairly likable actors. The downside was that like so much Americantelevision from the period it gets a little bit preachy , but apartfrom that it was a likable show featuring a couple of likablecharacters in the California Highway Patrol in a likable American TVshow
"Hey Theo can you use any other adjectives apart from likable ?otherwise this comment will end up becoming unlikable"
Sorry to bring irony in to this comment but you can see the point I'mmaking. When I saw the trailer I thought "Why does Hollywoodcontinually remake popular TV shows as crude comedies that have nothingin common with the source material ? " Well one reason might be cynicalcapitalism where they know they're fleecing the public. By the time badword of mouth spreads the damage and the profits are done so nothingelse matters
If you've seen the trailers you'll be scracting your head what thisfilm has in common with the TV show CHIPS. It contains toilet humour ,gay jokes and other near the knuckle humour . If nothing at least thetrailer is accurate . Within the first ten minutes I'd lost count ofthe number of F and S words featured so much so I thought I waswatching a Scorsese movie. On top of that the humour is dreadfulfeaturing toilet humour , sexual jokes about someone's wife and ...well stuff that 15 year old boys would consider juvenile . Some peoplemight enjoy this but I found it a genuinely unlikable film
I had read other IMDb reviews on this one going in, so I probablyshould've considered another film elsewhere. But being a bit of a CHiPsfan, i wanted to see how badly the remake factory in Hollywoodbutchered this one.
The only thing that was lifted from the TV series was the names - Baker& Poncherello and everything else is simply unoriginal. And when i saythat, i mean sex and toilet humor. it's all been done before and it'snot funny anymore. Even the idea of cameos are unoriginal. You justknew Erik Estrada was gonna pop up somewhere.
The plot is a hackplot - Within the CHP lies a group of corrupt cops. Our heroes have to find out who they are, provided that Jon Baker canstop dwelling on his cheating wife and Ponch can stop dwelling on hisdesire for sex to the point he has a chronic masturbation problem. I'mnot kidding.
Oh yeah, and Jane Kaczmarek? I'm pretty sure she had a body double buther character appears as a topless, sex-depraved cougar in this one. She's also the boys' boss. I'll let you think about that one.
To sum this one up, Hollywood sure loves it's 70's/80's TV show remakes(Baywatch comes out later this year) But i've learned from watchingpast remakes like Dukes of Hazzard and Starsky & Hutch never to expectmuch from remakes. just a complete soiling of what made TV back then soclassic.
