The Reviews for Freaked (1993) 720p

Freakin' Great!Reviewed byPepper AnneVote: 10/10

Freaked is probably the funniest movie of the grunge generation. It combines an excellent story line of corporate greed, a mad scientist/freak sideshow manager, and a bunch of people who become the guinea pigs in the new developments of freakhood. This, mixed with some very excellent animation reminiscint of the old Bubble Tape commercials ("six feet of bubble tape for you, not them") or Peter Gabreil's "Big Time" video. It is non-stop humor from beginning to end.

Pretty boy teen star is going to be the spokesman for some kind of toxic fertilizer in San Flan (a toast to the Saints of Dairy Desserts). There, he gets sidetracked by a blonde protestor who encourages him and his traveling buddy to go visit a freak show. And they're, they meet the crazy Eli Skuggs, who transforms them into freaks. They team up with a bunch of other freaks to try and escape.

It's got excellent stupid-humor. (I particularly like when Brooke Shields asks Winter what he watched on the plane and he says, "Return to the Blue Lagoon" and she says how was it--keep in mind that she was in the original--and he says "oh, it sucked!"). Everyone is terrific. And it even has a hot soundtrack with contributions from my all-time favorite, The Butthole Surfers.

You won't be disappointed with this off-the-wall comedy. I garuntee!

Horribly UnderratedReviewed byScars_RemainVote: 7/10

I don't understand why this film only has a 5.1 rating on this site. I had a great time with it and thought that it would be the general consensus, but I suppose not. Bur regardless of what others thought of it, I felt that was great and very original and definitely entertaining. Not to mention, absolutely hilarious.

The special effects in this one are wonderful. I really was amazed by all of the creatures. The story is quirky and fun but the only problem for me was that it didn't seem to be quite long enough. I wanted a bit more than I got. Other than that, it was really funny and enjoyable and I think it'll be one of my favorites in the years to come.

I'm a big fan of movies about carnival freaks so naturally, I loved this one. I urge you to give it a chance and vote it up on this site! It deserves a higher rating!

The most hilarious comedy EVER (you can keep the beard!)Reviewed byElijahCSkuggsVote: 10/10

Ricky Coogin (Alex Winter) is a Tinseltown brat with two things on his mind: chicks and money. But when he takes a lucrative yet controversial job offer from a partially banned fertilizer company called Zygrot 24, he and his pal Ernie embark to Santa Span and end up the side show attractions in a freak showcase, run by the over-the-top, never-been-better, low-brow, evil scientist Randy Quaid, aka Elijah C. Skuggs.

Mr. T, Brooke Shields, Bobcat Goldthwait, Keanu Reeves, William Sadler, and Morgan Fairchild are just a handful of random stars that shine throughout, with each character coming up with a few very funny one-liners. To watch this movie once isn't enough, for there are so many bizarre and outrageous scenes, that many will go unnoticed while your slapping your sides like a complete idiot.

The brainchild of Winter and Tom Stern, FREAKED is fast-paced, slapstick, in-your-face comedy that delivers with every viewing. The soundtrack is great, especially the opening credits track with Henry Rollins, and the Butthole Surfers remake of "Sweet Leaf," entitled "Sweat Loaf."

Do yourself a favor and watch this film if you want to laugh. Most people who find this film unfunny have serious security issues and a lackluster personality; so keep an open mind, grab a Mountain Dew, and enjoy the grandeur that is FREAKED.

**** out of ****
