The Synopsis for Katherine of Alexandria (2014) 1080p

Katherine of Alexandria, brought up as a nomad and living in the desert, was aged just 11 when Emperor Maxentius saw her whilst out on patrol. Consumed by her beauty, impudence and uncanny talent for languages, he abducted the child, killing her family. The slaughter was witnessed by her young friend, Constantine, who would later become Emperor of the Western Roman Empire. He never lost hope of finding Katherine. As a young woman, Katherine refused to submit to Maxentius' offers of marriage and she continually denounced his brutal enforcement of pagan religion upon the masses. Still obsessed with her beauty, Maxentius brought Katherine before 50 of Rome's finest scholars in an open court in Alexandria, where she eloquently demolished their arguments. When Constantine learned of Katherine's whereabouts and imprisonment at the hands of Maxentius, he led his army from York in a desperate bid to save her.

The Reviews for Katherine of Alexandria (2014) 1080p

Great English language movieReviewed bypaul-158-824717Vote: 7/10

An intelligently written and produced movie LONG overdue. I watched the film not knowing what to expect because I'd heard the kerfuffle about it being completely different to the trailer. WHY LIONSGATE TRIED TO MASK THE ACTUAL STORY WITH THAT STRANGE TRAILER IS BEYOND ME ! So I took a chance in the hope that what I'd heard about it being a good movie would carry some truth because I can't stomach another battle scene with 20 billion CGI soldiers (yawn yawn) and an invincible lead actor rescuing his bit on the side (or in this case on a wheel) and sure enough, my hunch was right. This is a thinking person's movie, and the producers got it bang on with what violence was portrayed involving Barbarians and Romans who had invaded their lands. If you want lots of ARRGH, OWCHES, BLOOD, and a couple of "OH MY GOD'S, with little thought for content, then this movie is NOT for you.

If you savour the English language and want to hear it masterfully spoken, then who better than Peter O'Toole and Edward Fox. They really are out there, however, the surprise in this movie is Romanian actress Nicole Keniheart ( Saint Katherine), who takes the language to another level. Grab this DVD and watch it twice, because Keniheart (although with a seductive foreign accent) speaks with a delicate voice but with scarily prophetic dialogue, to say she is beautiful is an understatement. I found myself going to bed with a somewhat guilty conscience about my own life. The producers have mastered the art of sound production to perfection, along with a great music score. Downside is NOT LONG ENOUGH. Upside is PERFORMANCE and UNIQUENESS. Oh, I now know where the Catherine Wheel comes from.

Some people are off their rockers!Reviewed byjason-158-746965Vote: 8/10

I would hardly say this is the "worst film ever made". Grow up. This is far, FAR from the worst film ever made. People are off their heads. It's a fairly decent, low budget indie with a nice message. At least it was a unique story! There is far much more garbage out there. We see Hollywood churning out these horribly made, poorly written horror films, sequels, remakes - all awfully made with an AWFUL amount of money. The reviews this movie have had are scathing, or awesome, there doesn't seem to be a happy middle ground. Which is exactly where this film lies. In the middle ground. It's not great. It's not terrible, it's fine.

Excellent film with brilliant performances.Reviewed byJennifersurreyVote: 10/10

Sad to think that this is Peter O Tooles last film ever, however it's one if his best performances with beautiful dialogue. I highly recommend it. The story of Saint Katherine is so touching, how she changed the lives of everyone she met. Nicole Kenniheart is very believable as Katherine. If it wasn't for Katherine, the world would still be worshipping the roman pagan Gods. Thank you for such a wonderful film, I hope Hollywood follows this and makes more religious films. They are much needed. Michael Redwood did a magnificent job for a first time director. The decline of an empire trailer is a bit misleading as this is a story about Saint Katherine, as well as Constantine being promoted and the battle between the eastern and western roman empire. Katherines words give hope to all mankind. Love it! Love it! Love it!
