The Reviews for Mrs Harris Goes to Paris (2022) 1080p

Beyond light, beyond air headed.Reviewed bydayana421Vote: 2/10

I knew it was going to be a light movie with some visually appealing clothing and scenes. But this was beyond light, beyond air headed just stupid, with hardly anything visually appealing, just walked out midway. Initial positive reviews are obviously from people that worked on the movie to give the movie going a boost.

Light and light-hearted story that's both nostalgic and timelessReviewed bygcsmanVote: 7/10

I don't imagine that seeing Mrs Harris Goes to Paris will change your life, but you'll certainly have a good time with it. It's so perfectly executed that it will cheerfully sail above any criticism that might be levelled at it. It's fluffy, and it's unrealistic in the extreme, but that's part of the point. This movie lives on a fantasy plane along with things like Cinderella and The Little Tailor.

It starts in the most ordinary possible circumstances: Ada Harris, a middle-aged, widowed cleaning lady In 1950's London, sets her heart on going to Paris to buy a Christian Dior dress. For a woman who's as shy, polite, and self-deprecating as she is, it all seems impossible, and yet it all happens. The essence of the fantasy is that at every turn (and there are a lot of turns) exactly the right thing happens to move her on her way: meeting the right person, getting a lucky break, saying the improbably right thing to change someone's mind. I lost count of the crisis points in the plot -- they come by about every five minutes -- but incredibly, everything winds up just the way it should.

Lesley Manville, playing the lead role of Ada, is flawless and exactly as good as the role needs her to be. The same is true of the rest of the surprisingly big cast; everyone fits and everyone is essential. I think there are deeper elements to this little story if you look hard enough. One is that Ada, at her nature a sweet and totally non-heroic person, nevertheless has power. During her adventure she leaves in her wake a string of changed people, in every case changed for the better. Another is the importance of living your dream even if it seems out of reach.

Things like this don't get made much these days.

Calm, likable and enjoyable fantasyReviewed byshadkinVote: 5/10

This film screams a white somewhat conservative woman fantasy colouring 2 cultures entirely in pink, a bit of wishful thinking too, if you watch it though, look at it as second degree metaphor because the characters has no depth, Paris and Dior in real life are not as presented. Even back then.

Imagine a Disney animated princess movie presented to 6 years old to foster kindness and well being.

The model slash actress that was keen on reading Sartre (no necessarily understanding it) was a bit too much.
