The Reviews for Overboard (2018) 1080p

"Overboard" 2018 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I've seen "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians." You go to see a film like this, and as you gaze at the boring, leaden, absurd, lifeless train wreck up on the screen, you think, "This was made by Hollywood professionals who are all multimillionaires" and you think about your own bank account and nothing adds up and you decide you need to try absinthe.

The premise is utterly implausible. A nice, pretty blonde single mother, studying to be a nurse, kidnaps a very wealthy, obnoxious man who suffers from amnesia, tells him he is her husband, makes him sleep in the backyard, and do all her housework and child-care chores. He, thanks to amnesia, morphs into a SNAG - a sensitive, New Age guy who loves her children better than she does, who never complains, and who eventually makes sweet love to her.

Well, look. "The Ghost and Mrs Muir" was about a woman falling in love with a dead sea captain. "The Wizard of Oz" is about ... well you know what it's about. An artist can take any premise and turn it into a classic film.

When I went to see "Overboard," the matinee theater was almost full. A lot of people handed over money to see this. It's a comedy. I heard no laughter. Nothing. No sounds. It's as if everyone had been battered into silence by the epic crappiness of the entire enterprise.

Eugenio Derbez, who plays the rich and obnoxious / poor, wonderful amnesiac, is said to be Mexico's biggest star. Maybe we DO need to build a wall. I've seen household pets with more sex appeal. Even cats, and I'm a dog person. You never root for romance between 56-year-old Derbez and his costar, creepily skinny Anna Faris, who looks and is young enough to be Derbez's daughter.

The movie tries for some relevance by tossing in some Spanish dialogue. Guess they're trying to make a point about the contributions the rising Latino population is making to society, and how happy Anglos and Latinos can be as they blend families. If "Overboard" is the shape of things to come, "Todos estamos en problemas." "We are all in trouble."

I don′t understand the good reviews. "10/10" Smells like paid liars.Reviewed byRodrigo SmithianVote: 1/10

I watched the 1987 version with the great Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. I hate comparisons but this version is very away to be original. The acting is AWFUL, Mr. Eugenio Derbez invited his tribe of friends actors and they don′t know how to act. They came from a lousy Mexican broadcast company named "Televisa" a bad soap opera factory.I love Mexican starts, but this is not the case.Since the movie starts, I wanted to end it quickly. It was a torture to me.There is any effort to reinvent the comedy, they are lousy choose of cast. There is no chemistry between Faris and Derbez.NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE.Is a total waste of time.Attention bad movie lovers: my review is not about hate, is about been objective and TRUE.

Overboard (2018), starring Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez, is frequently funny, which is more than can be said for many comedies. I never saw the original, with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, so can only judge the remake on its own merits. The film benefits from a tightly-woven plot and three-dimensional characters with multifaceted relationships in the supporting roles. Every minor detail seems carefully crafted to support the plot, with very little wasted motion. On the downside, it is a little formulaic, often predictable and a bit schmaltzy. However, it's executed with sufficient panache, that even the plot developments that one fully expects are enjoyable. While the broad brushstrokes are often predictable, the film offers some subtle nuances which are unexpected.

If the protagonist is the character who undergoes the greatest change and with whom the audience most closely identifies, then Derbez's Leonardo is arguably the protagonist, rather than top-billed Anna Faris's Kate. Leonardo is a multi-billionaire's wastrel son who has never grown up or accepted responsibility. He summarily fires a chef, whose food is boring and refuses to pay a carpet cleaner who refuses to kowtow to his whims. Yet, despite his egocentricity, he has a heart of gold, an infectious joie de vivre and the integrity to say exactly what he thinks. We want Leonardo to grow up and become a mature adult. We don't want Kate to imprison him forever. Eugenio Derbez, of How to Be a Latin Lover, largely carries the film and performs with enough energy and conviction to make situations that might seem ridiculous seem believable. Anna Faris's role seems somewhat hampered, first, by the current imperative in films to make characters, particularly female leads, politically correct, and second, by an apparent desire to maintain a PG-13 rating for what is essentially a film about a vengeful woman who engages in a massive conspiracy to commit human trafficking and slavery. Consequently, Faris's Kate spends a fair amount of screen time cramming for a nursing exam, socializing with immigrants, parenting, working multiple jobs to support her family, and agonizing over the moral implications of her actions - none of which is particularly funny. While the movie was consistently amusing, they could have pushed the envelope much further, but then, I quite enjoyed the edgy humor in Movie 43, one of the few films which I've seen with Anna Faris.

Several supporting characters shine, including John Hannah, Mel Rodriguez, Fernando Luján and Jesús Ochoa. In the interest of diversity, they also squeeze in a homosexual male and a cringeworthy transsexual. Production values are solid, with a refreshing lack of jiggly-cam shots
