After seeing his divorced mother being electrocuted in a freakish film-set accident, thirteen-year-old, Jeff Matthews, and his father, Chase, move to his hometown of Ludlow, Maine, to make a fresh start. However, as Jeff struggles to leave the bad memories behind him, his only friend, Drew Gilbert, tells him about the ancient Indian burial site with the otherworldly reanimating powers, eager to test it on his dog, Zowie. Indeed, the myth is true; nevertheless, what would happen if Jeff buried his beloved mother's dead body in the graveyard's stony soil? Can the dead truly return from the grave?

The Reviews for Pet Sematary II (1992) 1080p

Reviewed byNeil DoyleVote: /10

Some of the scathing reviews from those who preferred the original PETSEMATARY rather than this sequel, are misleading, no matter howwell-intentioned these viewers were. This horror film, full of the kindof touches evident in any Stephen King story, is really much betterthan these reviews would have you believe.

The premise, of course, is a silly one--that burying dead animals orhuman beings in a specially cursed Indian sematary will bring them backto life, deadlier than ever in evil intent. But once you get beyondthat, there's enough fright and scares invoked by the script and by theclever direction of Mary Lambert, particularly in sequences involvingClancy Brown. His return from the grave is marked by some really scaryand howlingly funny moments that give the film a sense of life itotherwise would have lacked.

She has also directed her two youthful protagonists, Edward Furlong andJason McGuire, in such a manner that she gets skillful performancesfrom them. Furlong has a glowing presence that fits the materialbeautifully and McGuire has a naturalness that is refreshing and real.

And the story actually covers a lot of ground, everything from badparenting to bullying from one's peers and lots of revenge motifs thatlead to some truly harrowing moments. Alas, it's true that much of theaction has a mean-spirited slant but all of it is somewhat softened bytouches of real humor.

Worth a look if you enjoyed the first PET SEMATARY.

The ancient Indian cemetery with the power to raise the dead returnsand influences the lives of new residents.

I must say, good or bad, I am glad director Mary Lambert returned forthe sequel. As the first was her creation, it seems only fitting to lether take the characters and concepts where she wants to go with them.Had another director handled it, the film could have lost any flavor ofthe original that might exist. (There is some similar tone and such, which I think keeps it a strong sequel.)

I love the young Edward Furlong (during his career peak) and AnthonyEdwards with a beard. Great casting that keeps this film relevant evenif it carried over pretty much nobody from the original. (I say "prettymuch" because I think it has no one, but a minor character might havemade it past me.)

The film as a whole has received negative reviews, but the fact is thatthe original really is not that great. Although a modern classic, and apop culture gem, it is not actually a critically good film. So thesequel by horror standards is not bad -- it actually maintains thelevel of the original.

Honestly i don't look into stories just a good movie, i'd say Clancy Brown made this movie excellent, he is just too hilarious.. this movie i like evenly with the first one, Furlong could've done a better job though, The movie itself is more graphic than the first was, showed more detailed deaths and showed something else kinda nice.. overall though this movie was a mix between funny, sad, and scary, which makes it one of my favorite sequels, i dunno why a lot of people disliked it i didn't see anything wrong with it at the least, just didn't have much to do with the main story possibly could've been it could've happened like that or this but it wasn't complete without Fred Gwynne in it, he was as awesome as Clancy Brown, whew enough blabbing, just highly recommended for people who love violence and killing movies
