The Reviews for The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea (2000) 1080p

Second BestReviewed byjodikaneVote: 10/10

Although not as good as the original, but then what sequel is? The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea is still as funny, and the music is still great. It's fantastic that Disney managed to get the majority of the original cast back, such as Jodi Benson as Ariel, Samuel E. Wright as Sebastian and Buddy Hackett as Scuttle. Unfortunately Christopher Daniel Barnes didn't return to the role of Eric, but Rob Paulsen did a pretty good job. When I first heard about the film being made, I was skeptical, as I didn't see much leeway for the production, but Disney has proved me wrong. The film is full of achievements, such as the great music and comical lines. Scuttle is still as funny and the chaos between Sebastian and Louie is brilliant, the characters haven't changed, which is brilliant. The animation is pretty good, but then the original was made with the Xerography system (hand drawn, hand painted), but the sequel colored with the new CAPS system (using computers). The film is great, but nothing will replace the original (which in my opinion is the greatest film ever made). It's second best to the original.

Bad.Reviewed bysilverangel1983Vote: 7/10

It wasn't good. The characters were underdeveloped and the only personality were from the memories I had of the previous movie which contrasted with the 'new' personalities (or lack thereof). I seriously thought the opening scene was a nightmare by Ariel because of how absurd it was. It was serious. It just reminded me of all the annoying characters on the Disney channel-everyone is hyperactive and the story jumps from action to embarrassing scenes without any really connection.

The most disappointing part was the horrible songs-not catchy, not amazing. In the original Ariel had an amazing and powerful voice and all the song are catchy and fun. You remember them and want to sing them. But the songs in this movie weren't creative in the least; it's as if they're talking in a annoying sing-song voice-quite weakly, disappointing. I don't have that want-to-sing-them feeling you normally get from a Disney movie.

It's as if not one wanted to do this movie, so they barely made an effort . . . this movie would needs a new story line, new catchy songs and more warmth and enthusiasm without the annoying "look at me! look at me! I'm so annoying!" mentality of this generation of Disney. :'(

Sweet movie, especially for the mother/daughter element!Reviewed byjessicagale3Vote: 8/10

It's been many years since Ariel left the depths of the ocean and married her Prince Charming; but now their journey continues with the birth of their daughter, Melody. Completely isolated from her family, in order to protect Melody from Ursula the Sea Witch's sister Morgana, Ariel now longs to pull down the castle walls and return to the twinkling blue. By the time Melody has turned twelve, she begins to suspect Ariel is hiding something, and begins her own quest for answers. Making friends along the way and finding out her family's long awaited secret; but at a price.

It's a sweet movie, I love the mother/daughter element because it makes it relatable to the average viewer, and I did understand it from both perspectives. Very good songs, interesting character progression, awesome movie for your own little water babies!
