Karen Black really stands out in this movie of strange happenings. In "Trilogy of Terror", her personality really shines through. In the segment of "Julie", she may look like someone who is tried to her work. Just to say, don't let that look fool you. One student tried his best to make her a part of a scandal. Somehow, that plan backfires. BeBecause at the end, he ended up being the statistic, not her. In the segment of "Millicent and Therese", you deal with sisters: one's a prude, the other, a wild child. Dealing with family trauma, of course when the real deal is a female version of "Jekyll & Hyde". And the last segment is "Amelia". This one is classic! Here you got a woman with mother issues, after she buys a Zuni fetish doll, she called her. After the hang up, the gold chain falls off, without her knowing it. All of the sudden, the doll comes alive, and attack her savagely. This one tops it all. Made back in the mid 70's, it wasn't all that cheesy. It was simple though. Still not kid friendly. A good way to remember Karen. 3 out of 5 stars.

Long live Karen Black!Reviewed byGOWBTWVote: 7/10
EVERYONE I know that's ever seen it says the same thing. That doll freaked them out! The doll in the last story is worth it all! You watch this and you won't be able to go to sleep till you make sure any dolls in your house are locked away! I think the dolls face is so well done, so damned creepy that even with the somewhat limited "special effects" that were used to do the doll, it just freaks you out and afterward any little sound in your house will make you jump or send a shiver down your spine! For a made-for-TV movie from 1975 it is fantastic! I forget how much they paid to get the doll to work, but I think it was something like $100,000. Lots of money back then just for a single item for a movie, but well worth it! The stories are pretty good too! Worthy of the Twilight Zone, or Outer Limits! Karen Black is great in this. Of course, this was her time to shine in the mid '70's. If you like the Chucky movies, then you'll love this one.
Dan Curtis and Richard Matheson pretty much ruled 1970s made for TV horror. But when you throw in Karen Black and a memorable miniature villain, you're left with pure nightmare fuel for 70s kids. Sure, we can endure all sorts of gore and doom now, but on March 4, 1974, the ABC Movie of the Week was about to give you all sorts of bad dreams.
STORY 1: Julie
Chad (Robert Burton, then-husband of the delicious Ms. Black) has it bad for his English teacher, Julie Eldrich (hey, Karen Black is in this, did I mention that?). So much so that just the glimpse of her thigh can make him totally forget all about class and fill his mind with daydreams. His friends don't get it -- his buddy Eddie says she's ugly. But that won't stop Chad, who watches Julie undress through her window before he asks her out to the drive-in.
But Chad's a creep. Instead of just being happy about getting her to go out with him, he drugs her at the drive-in, then checks into a motel and takes all manner of sexually provocative photos of her. Yep. This is a TV movie playing during prime time -- the 70s were nuts.
Chad gets what he wants -- a blackmailed Julie who will do whatever he wants. Until a few weeks later, she announces that the game is over. Julie's been a power bottom all along, setting the whole thing up. ?"Did you really think that dull, little mind of yours could possibly have conceived any of the rather dramatic experiences we've shared? Why do you think you suddenly had the overwhelming desire to see what I looked like under 'all those clothes?' Don't feel bad... I always get bored after a while," she says before poisoning him and setting his darkroom on fire. She adds his obituary to a scrapbook but there's no time to rest. Another suitor has already shown up...
